Japaul Gold & Ventures Plc has announced a major board reshuffle, appointing Segun Oloketuyi as chairman, Francis Ekeng as non-executive director, and confirming David Dawson as managing director.
In a disclosure on Monday, the company said the appointments mark “a transformative phase in its corporate governance and strategic direction” as it seeks to capitalise on opportunities in gold exploration, mining technology and sustainable resource development across Africa and beyond.
Mr Oloketuyi, a former managing director of Wema Bank Plc, is described as “a seasoned financial expert and respected industry leader with decades of experience in banking, governance, and business transformation.”
The company said his appointment “brings strong leadership, boardroom depth, and a renewed focus on corporate performance and shareholder value.”
Mr Ekeng, the CEO of Breeztek Limited, is a pan-African entrepreneur whose work spans telecommunications, real estate, technology and heavy metal mining, particularly in Eastern Africa.
He studied at the University of Ibadan and has executive training from institutions including the London Business School, Lagos Business School, Fintech Oxford, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he was certified as a Digital Transformation Expert.

“Widely recognised for his leadership in digital transformation across traditional and emerging sectors, Ekeng brings a unique blend of innovation, technical foresight, and executional excellence,” the company said. “His appointment reflects the Company’s ambition to drive next-generation value creation in mining and allied sectors.”
Mr Dawson, a Canadian with more than 40 years of experience in geophysical exploration and mining, specialises in magnetics, electromagnetic frequency and time domains, and induced polarisation.
He has led projects from grassroots discovery to mine reserve development and is fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish.
“His work spans the full spectrum of exploration… Mr. Dawson brings international technical leadership to Japaul Gold, positioning the company for growth through the integration of advanced exploration methodologies and global best practices,” the company said.

Outgoing chairman Paul Jegede described the appointments as strategic. “These appointments represent the company’s strategic leap into the future. We are combining deep technical expertise, strong governance, and innovative entrepreneurship to reposition Japaul Gold for accelerated growth, regional expansion, and operational excellence,” he said.
