For many sneaker guys (including Jeremy Allen White), the Nike Cortez is the ultimate low-key tennis shoe. But the upcoming Nike Cortez ‘Perforated Leather’ collection is hard proof that you can, in fact, improve on perfection.

Revealed in four color combos including ‘Wolf Grey,’ ‘White,’ ‘Pale Shale,’ and ‘University Red,’ the classic ’70s model comes wrapped in full leather, with suede panels around the lacing system, toebox, and heel badge. (Look closely at that heel badge, and you’ll also find Nike’s OG logo.)

The main point of differentiation here, however, is the perforated Swoosh. Those little holes actually go straight through the upper, so you’ll want to make sure you have some socks on. It’s a sharp, subtle update that manages to freshen up the all-time classic kicks without totally abandoning what makes ’em special in the first place.
